Coding Unplugged in Year 1
The Year 1 students learned to code without using any digital equipment by developing algorithms to draw numbers with specific actions or 'language'. After reviewing the correct way to write numbers, starting from the top and going down, the students drew numbers and the steps they thought were needed to draw the number as a 'robot'. Commands included, forwards, backwards, left, right and others. The students were highly successful in writing long algorithms or steps for most numbers.
Digital Water Cycle Posters in Year 2
The students in Mrs Gordon's class continued developed their conceptualisation of the water cycle by making digital posters with Pic Collage app. The students learned to get more copyright free images, further to their previous lessons, from even more online resources such as www.photosforclass.com and www.kiddle.co They then matched these to headings with appropriate colour selections, referencing colour wheels. Next, the students will record audio notes to describe how the cycle works in unity in Book Creator app.
