Creating Biology Books in Year 6 Science
The year 6's in Mrs Wallace's Science class continued to develop their Biology books using the Book Creator app. The students have been working on importing photos of real soil samples, Google advanced search images of animal adaptations and Google advanced search research to write about their Biology research topics.
Next lesson students will use the voice recording function to relate their research on Antibiotics with an experiment.
Learning how to Create Stories with Puppet Pals HD for a HaSS Project in Year 6
The year 6's were tasked by Mr. Hort to independently select a famous individual or group in Australian history to research. The class will use their skills using the Book Creator app to demonstrate their research, collaboration and writing skills.
In this lesson students learned how to create characters and backdrops/settings in the Puppet Pals HD app to prepare them for the final part of the project. This will require students to use Puppet Pals HD app to develop a story dramatization of the life and achievements of the individual or group that they have researched.
We are looking forward to seeing the stories the students are creating next lesson!
Making Connections between 2D and 3D shapes in Mrs Hooker's Year 5 Class
Having already developed an understanding of the characteristics of 2D shapes by creating a book about them in the Book Creator app, the students used the Explain Everything app to extend their knowledge. They learned how to draw 3D nets of the 3D objects they had identified earlier. The students then related the 3D nets to their 2D shapes they had researched in the app by labeling the relationship. In the next phase of the task the students will explain how they related the 3D nets to their 2D shapes using the recording function in the app.
Creating Stories that Teach in Mrs Capelli's and Mrs Brown's Year 4 classes.
Having already identified some examples of animal adaptations and characteristics of biomes, the Year 4s learned how to use the Puppet Pals HD app to extend their understanding. They did this by learning how to create animal characters in the Puppet Pals HD app by importing images from a Google advanced search. They learned how to import backdrops/settings with the same process. After viewing an example of a narration the students will revise their research to apply their knowledge of the relationship between biomes and adaptations by creating their own narrative.
Creating Narratives in Mrs Adam's Year 5 Class
After creating characters in their work books for a creative writing piece in Language Arts the students in Mrs Adam's class learned how to import these characters into the Puppet Pals HD app on their allocated iPad. In the next phase of this task students will learn how to import pictures of a backdrop/setting from a Google advanced search. They will then learn about narration and apply that to their own story with multiple scenes.
