Coding Unplugged in Year 2
The students in Mrs Gordon's class learned to develop their computational thinking by writing code to help a friend robot to write numbers correctly. After reviewing the 'language' (commands) that the robot speaks, the class drew 'digital numbers' (all with straight 15 cm lines) that the robot likes. The students were then challenged to write code to help the robot write the numbers 1, 7 and 8 in the correct way photo graph it and review or 'debug' with their shoulder partner. The students were impressive in their ruling and measurement of lines, ordering of commands and identifying directions. They also had a great time coding without any robotic devices at all!
